We want YOUR OPINION on yoga therapy education standards in the US!
Students, please put in your "two cents" worth.
Our executive director, Ginger, is serving on the Short Term Steering Committe in conjunction with the International Association of Yoga Therapists in order to set forth some logistical framework for setting Yoga Therapist educational standards in the US and potentially abroad. This greatly affects you and your training with PYTS as a Certified Yoga Therapist. We want to hear what you think about educational standards being set for yoga therapists. Contact us here and give us your opinion.

Some of the new changes to manuals will include phonetic Sanskrit pronunciation, Ayurvedic analysis, Therapeutic analysis and application using the PYTTM model, and all new photographic illustrations!

May 2008

PYTTM is becoming more recognizable. Check out the changes on our site. All courses which were identified as Yoga I, II, III, and IV are now recognized as PYT I, II, III, and IV. Any coursework already completed under the Yoga I, II, III, and IV names are still valid toward completing your CYT status. Any students interested in obtaining the new, revised editions of course manuals I, II, III, or IV can do so by contacting us via email or phone.

A recent article by Gaiam states that physicians are sending patients to yoga therapists, who may not have any medical background, instead of sending them to physical therapists. We want your feedback! Students, prospective students and visitors, we would love to have your feedback on this article. Please see http://life.gaiam.com/gaiam/p/Yoga-Therapy-The-Next-Wave-in-Yoga.html and give us your feedback. We want your comments on how you think yoga therapy should be credentialed, and if you think it is infringing on the current practice of rehabilitation specialists, such as PT's and OT's.

Publish Your Accomplishments, Students: We welcome any good news and professional development you have been recognized for or are contributing in the field of yoga therapy. Submit your news to info@proyogatherapy.com with subject line: Submission to What our Students Are Doing page for consideration to publish on our site.

What has Ginger done lately?
Ginger Donates Her Hair
Help a child who has lost their hair due to a medical condition or cancer. Ginger has cut off all her hair to donate it to the Locks of Love organization. Click here to learn how you can help.

WHAT IS LOCKS OF LOVE?

Locks of Love Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
