1.  The Professional Yoga Therapy Studies program exclusively prepares the licensed health care professional to be a comprehensively trained Yoga Therapist for both clinical and healthy populations, as both a yoga teacher and therapist.  

2.  The PYTS CE program offers advanced education for the experienced Yoga practitioner and health care professional in special population yoga therapy applications.  

HISTORY

Professional Yoga Therapy Studies, an advanced medical yoga therapy training and continuing education program built on the unique methods of founder and therapist Ginger Garner, is exclusively for health care professionals and advanced yoga teachers and therapists wanting to study yoga therapy as a rehabilitative science and method for whole living. Ginger gave birth to the program over seven years ago and has since been busy developing the Professional Yoga TherapyTM method. Ginger's unique approach to yoga therapy has been documented in four course module levels which comprise the CYT, or certified yoga therapist credential. She has also authored two other certificate courses, one in lumbopelvic stabliization and one in childbirth education.

Since that time, PYTS has welcomed hundreds of licensed health care professionals into its program, and will graduate its first class of Certified Yoga Therapists (CYT) in February 2008.  Each year PYTS accepts a class of about 30 students, each with their own clinical specialty and professional medical license. 

Our CYT (Yoga Therapist Certification) program can takes a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 4 years to complete, depending on the dedication and time each student has to spend on the curriculum.  PYTS coursework was written and formatted for the busy medical professional, so all coursework can be completed at the student’s own pace within a four year time frame.  This format simplifies the process of finishing the CYT program.

PYTS’ CYT syllabus fits into busy lifestyles and does not require more than a week’s absence at a time. 

The CYT is the first level of certification.  The PYT, Professional Yoga Therapist, program is the advanced level of certification for health care professionals.  CYT matriculation requires that students are licensed health care professionals, and recommends that they have prior yoga experience.  For example, an RYT200 or RYT500 may find that they are adequately prepared to enter into the CYT program.  The CYT program requires 2 weekends and 2 separate weeks to complete.  This can be completed at the students' own pace as they have a maximum of four years to complete the program.
